Who I am
This website address is: https://www.sci-princess.info. It is owned and edited solely by Joseph Levy. Most of the site’s content is in Hebrew. You can learn more about the site in this link, also see the contact page for how to get in touch if you have questions about my privacy policy or information I may hold about you. Although the contact information page’ like most of this site’s contents, is written in Hebrew, my email address is clearly stated on that page. This site strives to be GDPR compliant.
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
I strive for minimal collection of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to this site choose to interact with it in ways that require the gathering of personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that is gathered depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, I ask visitors who leaves comments to provide a name and an email address. In each case, I collect such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with the site. I do not disclose personally-identifying information. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities that depends on it. If you have any questions, feedback, or request, please contact me (as described above). If I accidentally omitted any topic from the following list, please let me know ASAP so that I may update this document.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information (PII)
I do not disclose any potentially personally-identifying (PPI) and personally-identifying information (PII) to anyone. There are no project administrators, employees, contractors, or organizations who are affiliated with this site.
This website will not rent or sell PPI and PII to anyone. I disclose PPI and PII only when required to do so by law, if you give permission to have your information shared, or when I believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of this website, its owner, third parties, or the public at large.
I do not maintain a list of email addresses, and do not send e-mails regarding this site to anyone. There is no option to register to this site. There is an automatic update service that sends automatic notices when the site is updates. These notices are sent only to those who registered to the service, and anyone can opt out at any time. The notice service is powered by http://www.feedburner.com, and I do not have access to the e-mail list this service maintains.
If you send me a request (for example via an email), I reserve the right to publish it in order to help me clarify or respond to your request or to help supporting other users. I take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction of PPI and PII.
Legal grounds for processing personal information
I rely on one or more of the following processing conditions:
- legitimate interests in the effective delivery of information and services to you;
- explicit consent that you have given;
- legal obligations.
Rights in relation to your information and access to data
This site does not maintain personal information records about the site visitors. However, some information is kept, as detailed below.
You may have certain rights under data protection law in relation to the personal information I may hold about you (which I don’t). In particular, you may have a right to:
- request a copy of (some or all of) your personal information I hold about you;
- ask to update the personal information that is held about you, or independently correct such personal information that you think is incorrect or incomplete;
- ask to delete personal information that is held about you from live systems, or restrict the way in which we use such personal information (for information on deletion from archives, see the “Retention of personal information” section);
- object to our processing of your personal information; and/or
- withdraw your consent to processing of your personal information (to the extent such processing is based on consent and consent is the only permissible basis for processing).
If you would like to exercise these rights or understand if these rights apply to you, please contact me (details are given at the beginning of this document).
Third Party Links
This website may contain links to other websites provided by third parties not under my control. When following a link and providing information to a 3rd-party website, please be aware that I am not responsible for the data provided to that third party. This privacy policy only applies to the websites listed at the beginning of this document, so when you visit other websites, even when you click on a link posted on this website, you should read their own privacy policies.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Guest posts, comments, and license
You must have the full copyrights to any information you are posting to the site for public display (be it a text comment, your username, your opinion, or any other file format such images or audio files). Any such content is automatically released under CC-BY and may be used by me in various sections of the site or in other websites, media, or offline. Note that any information you choose to share publicly through and on the website (including your personal information) can be viewed, saved, and used by others. You have full responsibility for the information you choose to submit publicly to the site (and the consequences of posting it) and we have no responsibility to publish, take down, remove or edit any of it (although you are welcome to ask us, and we will often try to help).
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. This site uses cookies to help me identify and track visitors, their usage of the site, and their website access preferences. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using the website, with the drawback that certain features of the site may not function optimally without the aid of cookies.
What follows is the list of cases I use cookies on this site:
- If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
- This site includes google analytics in order to learn of how users engage the site (see the analytics section for more details). You may click here to learn more about how google analytics uses cookies.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, ads, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Across the site you are likely to have embedded code from Google analytics, Youtube and other websites.
Often times, the tracking settings of these sites have been set by you, the user, in the respective’s site settings page. Whenever we have the option, we chose the most conservative option for data sharing (for example, we use IP annonymization with google analytics so to not send them your IP address)
Analytics
Like most website operators, this site collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. The purpose in collecting this non-personally identifying information is to better understand how this website is used. From time to time, I may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of this website. The Google Analytics Data Retention is set to not expire for any user-level and event-level data stored by Google Analytics (see here for more details). Visit here to learn more about data privacy and security in google analytics.
The Google Analytics JavaScript code is set with anonymize IP, telling Google Analytics to anonymize the information sent by the tracker objects by removing the last octet of the IP address prior to its storage.
If you still wish to not let us track you via google analytics, there is an opt-out browser add-on that helps users make opting out incredibly easy and convenient.
Who I share your data with
Your data is not shared with any third party except for what is mentioned above.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
I do not maintain or hold any personal data records except for what was described above.
Where I send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Also see the sections above regarding embedded scripts and analytics.
How I protect your data
This site uses several preventative measures from being hacked (which are not mentioned in order to not give help to any potential hacker to use), as well as several layers of backups.
This site collects anonymized Internet Protocol addresses (IP without the last 3 digits) for security reasons within a firewall system so to block malicious attempts to breach the site. This data is kept for 45 days and then erased. This site does not use such information to identify its visitors for anything other than security related issues and will not disclose information gathered this way (unless needed for security related issues). The data settings may be changed to collect de-anonymized (full) IP addresses in the case of a suspected attack to the site, so to help identify malicious actors (if done, this would be very short termed and the data that is not used for security will be erased, as mentioned above, within 45 days).
Mailing lists
If you subscribe to receive an email update about new content, your email will be stored and used for that. I respect your privacy and by providing me with your email I commit to NOT share it with any external third party, other than feedburner.com which provides the mailing list service. I do not have access to the list of emails.
You are free to opt-out from a mailing list you’ve joined at any time. Often the unsubscribe link as at the bottom of the email you receive. If, for some reason, that does not work for you – you are welcome to contact me (see details at the beginning of the text), and I will make sure to unsubscribe your email from receiving future emails.
Privacy Policy Changes
Although most changes are likely to be minor, I may change my Privacy Policy from time to time, and in my sole discretion. You are encouraged to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change. If a change is substantial, I shall make sure to publish it as a post (and/or a clear banner on the site) so as to inform the regular readers of the site.
